Radiata Pine = Environmental Sustainability
Agriculture, horticulture and forestry represent 65% of all New Zealand exports, with forestry alone contributing over 11% of exports2. Plantation forests contribute substantially to New Zealand's economic activity, as well as being great carbon sinks. Very few of the other agricultural or horticultural activities contribute substantially to the reduction of carbon in the atmosphere. And, interestingly, forestry earns on average more export dollars per ha!
