What We Produce

Our Production Varieties of radiata pine are produced either as bare-root or individually containerised cuttings. Currently 25 Production Varieties from an original pool of around 1,000 have been selected for commercial production. Additional superior Production Varieties are being developed and will be produced over the next few years. In addition, CellFor Inc technology and automation will be utilised to continually develop and improve production systems.

Currently growers of pine plantations in New Zealand, Australia and elsewhere utilise genetically improved seedling and cutting stocks developed through conventional breeding and propagation methods to improve the value of forest plantations. Our Production Varieties represent the next big advance in the continuing process of genetic improvement. The selection of appropriate tree stocks is known to be a key factor in the final value of forest plantations, especially as greater emphasis is put on growing trees for high-value end uses. It becomes more important than ever to grow more wood and wood of a suitable quality for processing.
